Say "Si Bon" For Beaux Arts Associates.

In the grand tradition of movie palaces like the Raymond Theater and the Beaux Arts Theatre of St. Paul, Minnesota, Dennis Felling, President of Beaux Arts Associates, built his personal dream theatre in his basement.

This is one of my favorite home theatres. I first saw it in a 1999 issue of the now unfortunately defunct, but wonderful Home Theater Interiors Magazine.

What's striking is how realistic it looks. The illusion of genuiness, as though you were really at a 1920's movie palace, is powerful. Felling says he has a particular talent for making small spaces appear to be larger than they are by using space effectively. From what I've seen, I certainly agree. Even in photo spreads, his entrance to the Beaux Arts is totally convincing.
Nothing was left to chance and only the finest materials were used, including world renowned  Shumacher wallpaper and Derek Marshall sconces. He even adorned the theatre with an authentic movie poster of Boris Karloff's horror masterpiece "The Mummy", signed by Sara Karloff (the great Karloff's daughter).
